Ms. Katie
Licensed Mental Health Therapist
I’m Katie, a Licensed Clinical Social Worker. I’m passionate about helping children and families navigate life’s challenges with compassion.
My clinical background includes working with children and adolescents experiencing crisis, complex trauma, anxiety, emotional and behavioral challenges, attachment difficulties, and neurodevelopmental differences in an inpatient and outpatient setting. I take a trauma-informed, relationship centered approach to therapy and encourage healing through safe, supportive relationships.
I have extensive experience working with acute children with a variety of neurodevelopmental differences, including all levels of autism, IDD, other developmental delays, and complex trauma. I am currently pursuing my play therapy certification with a plan to specialize in aut-play. I specialize in working with children who have attachment issues, with specific experience treating children involved in the foster care system or from dysregulated family systems. I utilize principles of Trust-Based Relational Intervention and base most of my practice in play. I specialize in working with children ages 5-13.
My goal is to create a safe space where children feel understood, parents feel empowered, and families can build strong relationships together. I believe therapy should be engaging, collaborative, and tailored to each child’s strengths.
I strive to meet children and families exactly where they are. I use play-based interventions in the therapy space, encouraging children to process emotions, navigate conflict, and express themselves through play. Outside of the therapy room, I enjoy spending time with my family, being outdoors, doing arts and crafts, and continually expanding my knowledge through training in attachment, trauma, and play based interventions.
