Speech Therapist
Monica, a speech-language pathologist clinical fellow, is thrilled to be joining the Therapy Smarts team! She completed her Bachelor of Science in Speech and Hearing Sciences from East Carolina University (GO PIRATES!). After, she pursued her Master of Science in Communication Sciences and Disorders from North Carolina Central University.
Monica’s clinical experience includes working with individuals of all ages who have articulation disorders, aphasia, autism, AAC users, developmental disabilities, developmental delays, expressive/receptive language delays, phonological disorders, fluency issues, pragmatic disorders, and TBI. Working in homes, daycares, a university clinic, and schools has given her diverse experience. Monica enjoys collaborating on interdisciplinary teams to help ensure clients are getting their needs met. She uses a child-led play-based approach to therapy to keep clients
engaged and make therapy a FUNctional experience.
Monica’s love for children is immense, as she believes they are some of life’s greatest teachers. She is driven by the desire to assist children in discovering and developing their functional communication skills, while also providing support to their families.
