The Power of Interdisicplinary Therapy
If there is one universal truth about parenthood and caregiving, it is that it is consistently busy. From doctor’s visits, to school, to extracurriculars, meal planning (and homework), the task list is never-ending. For children recommended to begin therapy services, this feels (and is) just one more added demand on top of a taxing schedule. And for children requiring multiple services, this only further complicates scheduling.
Our founder, Avani (a mother of two), knew firsthand the demands of parenthood— and central to her mission of opening a therapy clinic was creating a place where the holistic needs of a child can be met under one roof. As well as simplifying schedules, this approach empowers all of a child’s care team to work together, which ultimately enhances therapeutic outcomes.

Crystalizing Communications
The biggest benefit to multidisciplinary therapy is the simplicity of communication channels between different members of a child’s care team. Say your child is in need of speech therapy and occupational therapy, and attends two different clinics for sessions. At each clinic, your child’s therapist will have an individualized care plan based on their goals within that specific discipline of therapy.
In order for these two therapists to compare notes— and avoid duplicating their efforts— they must receive a release of information documents (to exchange medical information between providers) and find a time to meet and compare notes. As a child progresses, this will likely need to be an ongoing conversation. Given the ongoing demand for pediatric therapy services, this is easier said than done. Multidisciplinary clinics simplify this process — two therapists do not need to fill out the exchange of information if they are within the same provider’s office, and comparison of goals can happen anytime, anywhere— streamlining care for your child.
By and large, this multidisciplinary communication is one of the most appreciated elements by our therapists. Working collaboratively with a child and his or her family not only makes communication and progress more linear, but grants them the invaluable opportunity to learn across disciplines. .
